A Defense for Studying Theology and Gaining...
Opposer: Why study things that don't matter? Calvinism, Arminianism, pre-trib, post-trib, complementarianism, egalitarianism... who cares! I love Jesus. That should be enough.
Defender: Ok then, tell me, do you strive to be more like God?
Opposer: Of course I do.
Defender: Even though we could never be perfect, do you think we should strive for perfection?
Opposer: Yes. We're called to be like Christ, even though we can never be exactly like Him. In which case, we'd actually be Him.
Defender: Would you agree that God is omniscient?
Opposer: Definitely. He knows all things!
Defender: And you'd agree that you're not omniscient, correct?
Opposer: If I were omniscient, then I'd be God! So I'm definitely not.
Defender: So, God knows all things. We know some things. Right?
Defender: So, just as we can't be perfect but strive for perfection, since we know some things and God knows all things, even though we could never know all things, shouldn't we strive to learn more things?
Opposer: You see that's where I disagree. I don't think we have to learn things to be more like God.
Defender: But God knows all things. Learning more things would move us closer to knowing all things. The closer to we are knowing all things, the more like God we'll be.
Opposer: That's a really good point.
Defender: I want to take every chance to become more like God that I can. If that's through theology, knowledge, or what have you, then I'm going to pursue that.
Opposer: Excuse me. I'm going to go pick up a few theology books.
Utterly broken but He will wipe every tear from our eyes.
I confess my iniquity; I am troubled by my sin- Psalm 38:18 The reality of my sin has overwhelmed me this morning. I’m just trembling in the presence of a Holy God. My heart is so heavily burdened with grieving the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30). That was me who nailed Jesus on the cross. It was my sin that added to the blood of Jesus. It was my sin that killed God. Sin. My sin. I did it to...

alightforrevelation: “Immediate presence is confrontational; mediated presence is always easier to domesticate.” More than anything, this reminds me of the desperate need for solid preaching and teaching in America. And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction....
Spiritual State of America?
thesweetermelody: Since I am very much hoping to get to the US of A next February, I thought I’d do a bit of homework on the spiritual state of America. So, what is the spiritual condition of America? I’m up for book recommendations too. I guess I want to be prepared, in case it’s completely different to Australia (I’m sure it is). No religious-shock for me. I know that the spiritual...

"Fearless" sermon by Eric Ludy →
“Fear controls the modern American Christian. And for most in the post-modern Church, this is nonchalantly accepted without a fight. But, the Biblical declaration of the healthy Christian soul does not allow for even a scrap of self-preserving fear, fretting, anxiety, and foreboding. It’s simply not intended to be a part of the Christian life. So, how do we deal with this great...

Your soul is the only one I ever want to be entangled with. You are the...
ajsaevus: Every second our body, our flesh sprints onward towards death. Every moment we are flung towards an untimely exit and a strange entrance into the undiscovered country. To escape the fear of certainty, we seek hope, and as Christians we have found it. Rather it has found us, God has drawn us, and called us into a life of obedience. So why as Christians do we still search for death? Did...
Today a girl came up to me and said, “Hey! You’re the girl in the video ‘Stuff Calvinists Say!” Can I take a picture and have your autograph? You’re like a celebrity at my school.” Then she texted the picture to her friends. And then 2 other guys asked me the same thing. So random. What the crazy is happening to my life lolz.
