"But we're supposed to love!"

A misunderstanding of what love truly is.

I hear many Christians constantly say the statement above over and over again without having one idea of what love really is.  To them, it means being all lovey-dovey and nice.  But no, it’s not about being nice or being lovey-dovey. Let’s get this straight.

You are not loving when you hold back the truth.  You are not loving when you constantly drown others in comfortable lies.  You are not loving when you soften up the Gospel.  That is not love.  If you truly did love others, you would tell them truth no matter how hard it is to swallow. If you truly did love others, you would realize that it’s better for them to hear the real Gospel rather than living their lives believing in a softened up, false gospel. If you truly did love others, you would hold nothing back when presenting the true Gospel.
